Miyawaki Forest
A dense two-acre pocket forest grown using Japan's Miyawaki method — native species planted close together so the canopy fills in years ahead of schedule.
A Forest That Grew Up Fast
Tucked into the Ekta Nagar attraction zone near Ekta Mall, this pocket forest is grown using the Miyawaki method — a Japanese afforestation technique where native species are planted much closer together than in a conventional plantation, forcing them to compete for light and grow far faster than nature normally would. The result, across roughly two acres, is a compact patch that already feels years older than it actually is — thick, layered, and noticeably cooler to stand in than the open sightseeing areas nearby.
What You'll Experience
Three things worth understanding before you walk in.

The Miyawaki Method, In Person
See close-packed, multi-layered native planting up close — a real-world example of a technique used to rapidly rebuild forest cover.

Native Species Diversity
Multiple native tree and shrub species planted together rather than a single monoculture row.

A Noticeably Cooler Micro-Climate
The dense canopy makes it a few degrees cooler inside than the open pathways around it — a welcome break on a hot afternoon.
It's Actually Five Gardens in One
The dense Miyawaki plot is the centrepiece, but the wider development includes a few more themed sections.
Native Floral Garden
A section dedicated to native flowering species, alongside the dense Miyawaki block itself.
Timber & Fruit Gardens
Separate plots for timber-yielding trees and fruit-bearing species, rounding out the site's plant diversity.
Medicinal Garden
A smaller medicinal plant section sits alongside the main forest — a nice complement if you're also visiting Arogya Van.
Digital Orientation Centre
An on-site centre explaining the Miyawaki method — planting native species close together is said to grow a forest roughly ten times faster and far denser than a conventional plantation.

Miyawaki Forest FAQ
Quick answers about the Miyawaki Forest's timings, pricing and the science behind it. If you don't see your question, we're one message away.
It's a dense little forest near Ekta Mall grown using the Miyawaki method — a Japanese afforestation technique where native tree and shrub species are planted very close together in multiple layers. This forces competition for sunlight, which speeds up growth dramatically compared to a conventional plantation.
A conventional plantation spaces trees out and can take decades to look like a real forest. A Miyawaki forest packs native species close together across several layers — canopy, sub-canopy, shrub and ground cover — so it grows far faster and becomes largely self-sustaining, needing little maintenance, within about three years.
Miyawaki Forest is open Tuesday to Sunday, 8 AM to 6:30 PM, with last entry at 6 PM. Tickets are ₹50 for adults and ₹30 for children.
It's tucked into the Ekta Nagar attraction zone, close to Ekta Mall, which makes it an easy add-on if you're already shopping or eating nearby.
It's a compact plot of about two acres, so 20 to 30 minutes is enough to walk through and appreciate how thick the canopy already is for such a young forest.
The dense Miyawaki block is the centrepiece, but the wider development also includes a Native Floral Garden, a Timber Garden, a Fruit Garden, a Medicinal Garden and a Digital Orientation Centre explaining the method — plus an entry plaza, parking, a gazebo and marked nature trails.
