Cactus Garden &
Butterfly Garden
Two very different gardens, one ticket — a dome full of cactus and succulent varieties, right next door to a climate-controlled house where butterflies fly free among tropical blooms.
A Desert Dome Next to a Butterfly House
The Cactus Garden sits opposite the Statue of Unity inside one of India's largest cactus-garden domes, developed by the GEER Foundation, holding a large, diverse collection of cacti and succulents in raised beds and rockwork. Right alongside it is the Butterfly Garden — a separate, climate-controlled geodesic structure where butterflies move freely among tropical flowering plants chosen to keep them fed and breeding year-round. One ticket covers both spaces, and it's a quieter, slower kind of attraction that works well as a change of pace between Kevadia's busier sights.
Both Gardens, By the Numbers
What to Expect & Visit Tips
A few practical notes that make the visit smoother.
What You'll See
- A large, diverse cactus and succulent collection inside a domed structure
- Raised beds and rockwork landscaping designed for close viewing
- A climate-controlled geodesic Butterfly Garden right next door
- Free-flying butterflies among tropical flowering plants
- Shaded walking paths through both sections
Tips Before You Go
- Visit in the morning or late afternoon — the cactus dome traps heat in the middle of the day
- The butterfly house is warm and humid by design; light clothing is more comfortable
- Avoid bright flash photography near the butterflies — it can startle them
- Pair it with the nearby Maze Garden for an easy back-to-back stop
- Closed on Mondays, same as most Statue of Unity attractions

Cactus & Butterfly Garden FAQ
Quick answers about tickets, timings and what to expect. If you don't see your question, we're one message away.
One ticket. The Cactus Garden and Butterfly Garden are sold as a single combo ticket at ₹60 for adults and ₹40 for children, and one entry gets you into both sections.
Open Tuesday to Sunday, 8 AM to 6:30 PM, with last entry at 6 PM. Like most attractions in the Statue of Unity complex, it is closed on Mondays.
Most visitors spend 45 to 60 minutes across both gardens — enough time to walk the cactus dome slowly and spend a while inside the butterfly enclosure without feeling rushed.
The Cactus Garden was developed by the GEER Foundation (Gujarat Ecological Education and Research Foundation) and sits opposite the Statue of Unity on the left bank of the Narmada, housing its collection inside one of India's largest cactus-garden domes.
It's right next to the cactus dome, inside its own climate-controlled geodesic structure, where butterflies fly freely among tropical flowering plants. The single combo ticket covers entry to both.
The Cactus Garden holds around 450 species of cacti and succulents from roughly 17 countries, spread across 25 acres of open ground plus an 836 sq. m. dome. The Butterfly Garden is home to 70+ butterfly species across 10 acres, planted with about 150 species of nectar and host plants.
