If you're travelling by train, this is the one page you need: which station to book to, how far it actually is, and what happens the moment you step off the platform.

The Nearest Railway Station

Ekta Nagar Railway Station (station code: EKNR) is the nearest railway station to the Statue of Unity, approximately 7 km from the monument. It was built specifically to serve Kevadia and was formerly known as Kevadia Railway Station — if you've seen it under that older name while searching for trains, it's the same station.

This is a genuinely important detail for anyone planning the trip: a dedicated station this close to the monument didn't exist a few years ago, and a lot of travellers still default to Vadodara out of habit when a much shorter journey is now possible.

Trains to Ekta Nagar

Direct trains connect Ekta Nagar with major cities including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Varanasi, Rewa, and other key junctions. Since specific train numbers, names, and schedules change from time to time, check current listings closer to your travel date rather than relying on older information — but as a rule, if you're coming from one of these cities, a direct service to Ekta Nagar is usually your best option.

Booking tip

Trains to Ekta Nagar fill up well ahead on weekends and through holiday periods. Book your train first, then your stay — the room is the flexible part, the train is not.

From the Station to the Monument

Ekta Nagar station sits about 7 km from the Statue of Unity, and the easiest way to cover that last stretch is the free official AC bus shuttle service that operates from the station itself. Route 1 of the shuttle network specifically starts at Ekta Nagar Railway Station and connects through to Bharat Bhavan, the parking areas, and the Statue of Unity.

  • Days: Tuesday to Sunday
  • Hours: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Frequency: every 15–20 minutes, more often in peak season
  • Cost: free — no ticket needed, just board at the marked stops

Beyond the shuttle, Pink EV Autos, local auto-rickshaws, and on-demand cabs are also available right outside the station if you'd rather go straight to your hotel first.

One thing worth knowing before you arrive: private vehicles are not permitted inside the core attraction zone around the Statue of Unity. The free shuttle and local auto network is how everyone — regardless of how they arrived — gets around once they're there.

Backup Option: Vadodara Junction

If your route doesn't have a direct train to Ekta Nagar, Vadodara Junction (BRC) is the practical fallback. It's a major Western Railway hub roughly 90 km from the Statue of Unity, with far broader express and superfast train connectivity than the smaller Ekta Nagar station. From Vadodara, it's about a two-hour drive or bus ride the rest of the way — see our full how-to-reach guide for the road options from there.
